TINCTURE

A liquid plant extraction that uses equal parts grain alcohol and distilled water. The liquid (menstruum) extracts the beneficial qualities from the herb. The tincture has a ratio of 1 part dry herb to 5 parts menstruum. The ingredients are combined and will then sit for 4 weeks, allowing the properties from the herb to be absorbed into the liquid mixture. After 4 weeks, the plant matter is strained from the liquid extract. It is then bottled, and ready to be used. The process is the same for the honey tinctures. After 4 weeks we strain the extraction, combine with equal parts honey, and let sit for an extra week to let the honey dissolve. All tinctures are to be orally ingested.

OXYMEL

A liquid extraction using equal parts honey and apple cider vinegar. This is an alcohol free extraction that is still shelf stable. Our oxymel will sit with the ingredients for 5 weeks to infuse. At the end of 5 weeks, the mixture is strained and is ready to be used. Oxymels are to be taken orally.

FIRE TONIC

Similar to the oxymel, except the honey is added at the very end. We combine several ingredients with raw apple cider vinegar, the mixture sits for 5 weeks. At the end of 5 weeks, the tonic is strained. Raw local honey is added to the mixture and will sit for another week to let the honey dissolve. This product has the name fire in it because of all its spicy ingredients. Fire Tonic is to be taken orally.

INFUSION/
EXTRACTION

Process by which we extract the beneficial properties from a dry herb into a liquid. This method is used for our tinctures, oxymels, fire tonics, and infused oils. The herb sits in the liquid for four to six weeks depending on the product, and is then strained. Our infused oils can be found in our salves, creams and massage oils.

SALVE

A product that is to be used topically. It combines our herb infused oils, beeswax, other natural oils and essential oils.
